What is it?
Galvannealed steel is steel that has gone through the process of being galvanized and is then further treated. The steel is annealed which is a heat treatment that alters physical and chemical properties of the steel. This process leaves the steel with a harder and more brittle coating than galvanizing. The steel has a matte gray color and can be easily painted.
Galvannealed steel is most commonly used in the automobile industry within car frames. Depending on the steel that is galvannealed, this steel can be used for brackets, or the structure of a building. This steel is meant to be formed and used in high stress applications.
